No regrets when we're doing the best thing I had to give a much loved cat away when my first grandaughter was born. She was allergic and I had a crib with all of the trappings, toys, bottles, etc. all ready set up so that she could sleep over a lot.
I took little Princess, who was a 4 year old cat, to a wonderful vet who sets up adoptions. He only dealt with kittens, but when I brought her in, he fell in love with her, Well - she was adopted the next day! I left my phone number so that the new family coud call me and let me kow how everything was going, if they had questions, etc. They never did - obviously never needed or even wanted to. I just know in my heart that she was happy with her new family and couldnt possibly stay in mine.
Things always work out for the best.
Good luck and I'm sorry that you're sad.
