So i decided to do an actual test MYSELF these past few weeks by using Upper brand foods versus low cost foods. I mean afterall., sometimes we just HAVE to wonder if it's all hype to make us spend more and more money
. I'm always thnking how when I was a kid....dogs got Alpo and made it just fine..... and there pretty much was nothing better out there anyways.
First of all i didn't have the heart to feed the junk to my dogs
So i decided to use the barn cats and do a cheap food versus a higher priced food test.
Now for the test results:
I have always feed ALL the cats..indoors or barn cats either NUTRO or something upper end. So pretty much everycat here is fat and happy
.
I then started feeding the barn cats whever was on sale and cheap. 9 lives or dad's usually. I kept it mixed up so they would have a variety of cheap foods. I also made sure to give the barn cats the exact same amount each day , just as I always have. i also watched to make sure they were actually EATING it . WEll they were eating it just like the expensive food I used to feed them....BUT...... WOOOOO what a difference started happening. Within a week they were looking skinny and boney. they still hade the energy and playfulness. It was just they now looked so ... all I can say is mangy. I kept feeding them this food for 2 more weeks and they really never perked back up in the looks department . They seemed just as happy but they now LOOKED like those skanky mangy barncats like in the cartoons. WEll after 3 weeks I couldn't STAND it anymore. I put them back on Nutro and sometimes the Spa select(which is Blue Buffalo for cats). Within the week they were already looking better and by the end of the week were looking almost back to full bodied and better coats. I didn't change the AMOUNT... i fed them the same amount as when they had the junk food.
I guess it just goes to prove that the FOOD definately makes a difference. I always THOUGHT this but felt the need to prove it to myself.
Just incase anybody thinks i starved or mistreated the barn cats...i didn't. They were feed lots of food everyday... Just the cheapo food
