Cars are designed to RUN! It may have over heated... But if its new, I seriously doubt it! Its likely you were smelling the exhaust fumes and not anything overheating or burning.... Your van is probably perfectly fine!!!
Its a blessing that you and your family are ok!!!! Stress is more serious than most people think!!! Take time out for your self! Make sure your taking care of you!
