When we lived in Utah we had a fenced in backyard. Well, we had a red heeler that stayed outside and one night she started barking really loud and mean. Bentley was only about a year old then and when he heard the barking he HAD to start barking too and he ran out with my husband to investigate. We turned the patio light on and my husband and Bentley went out into the yard to see what was going on. When my husband couldn't find anything he walked back to the house and apparently Bentley didn't know he had left his side. When he realized he was alone he started yelping like he was hurt!! Well, I thought he had gotten hurt and I ran out and said "what's wrong with Bentley"?! My husband started laughing and said "He realized I wasn't with him anymore and he got scared"!
Bentley doesn't like to share. If my yellow lab has a toy Bentley has to have it. Even if it's something Bentley wouldn't otherwise play with. If Duke has it, Bentley wants it. And so he'll get the toy away from Duke and guard it with his life. If Duke comes anywhere near it Bentley will run up to Duke and bark at him and then run back to the toy. |
