Your story is similair to mine, one I havent shared. Im going thru much the same thing right now.
I am a breeder and wanted to improve on my yorkies. I was contacted by a so called friend that his friend had two adult championed sired females they were going to release. I was very excited. My so called friend, acted as a middle man you might say and gave me the info on the yorkies, told me what deposit to send, and when I asked for the breeders contact info, he pretty much said I needed to go thru him. Stupid huh?,,,,,,,,,but thats what I did. I really trusted this person. I sent the deposit a few months in advance and waited for the call as to when to pick them up.
Finally plans were made to make the trip and I called the day of departure to confirm the plans. SO my husband and I took off on the 4 1/2 hr drive to kentucky to pick the girls up. The whole day was screwy. When we got to my so called friends house he said it might be a dry run! the breeder was at work and couldnt get off until 6pm, we arrived at 2pm. SO strange since I had called and confirmed that morning! Then they began phonetag for the brief time I was at the mans house I finally insisted for him to let me speak to the breeder myself. She told me the plans for the day had not been verified with her, but we could pick the dogs up after she got off work......4 hours later!.............I said well my kids are at the babysitter's and I couldnt wait and we were going home. I was so upset! As we started to drive home my husband said Why dont we wait, I know you have been excited about the new dogs. My gut told me keep driving, let the deposit slide, keep going but we ended up waiting. We should have kept driving.
We met the breeder at her house, I was pleased with the 2 yorkies shown. But behind her house were a herd of others.
I was shown the pedigrees, gave copies along with the signed Akc registration papers on them. As we loaded up our new girls and got in the car I was told to hold off for a brief time on registering them, she had a little DNA problem which was in the process of being resolved. She promised it would be cleared up in a snap. I told her I had no knowledge of this and she said my so called friend knew about the lil problem. My gut told me to get out of the car, open the doors and hand her her papers, and yorkies back and take my money back. She was very convincing it would be cleared up in a jiffy. I took the dogs home. Why wasnt I told earlier, like on the phone??
2 months have went by and the problem is still not cleared up. AKC will give me very little info. The breeder tells me she is waiting for this DNA, and that DNA is being sent in also. Im praying the problem will clear up. SHe is not on the suspended breeders list because its under investigation. I cant imagine A show breeder letting their entire AKC champion bred dogs be suspended from the AKC. But Im very worried about it. I notice she is selling her puppies without papers on her website too (a website I didnt know existed until the dayof pick up)
I spoke with my so called friend and we are no longer so called friends. I would be so embarassed to treat someone like this. I would never do business like this. Makes it very hard to trust anyone. I would never do this to anyone let alone a friend. Truth is I wasnt a friend, I was a dollar sign.
Mix ups can happen if you have multiple dogs, I understand that, but being dishonest with people comes back to haunt you. It may not be today, it may not be tomorrow, but it comes back. I seriously wonder if a fast one was attempted on the AKC. A puppies DNA did not match with the others in the litter. A mix up like that could happen if you had more then one litter, but why are their many many dogs being DNA'ed and no one is matching up?
Im going to give it a little more time and if it clears up GREAT! If it doesnt I will ask for my money back, if it doesnt happen I will have to take other measures.
I really like the dogs too, makes me sad and upset to think of returning them.
I was too trusting, I didnt heed the warning signs even when they hit me in the head, and my advice is call the AKC too before purchasing from someone, for extra precaution. If I would have called I would have known and the trip would have never been made or a deposit sent either. THe AKC will tell you if someone is under investigation. I just never doubted my ex friend. After putting a deposit down 2 months earlier, being so excited, driving 4 1/2 hours, waiting 4 hours and having a 4 1/2 hr drive home.........I took the girls home.
Im gonna give it a few more weeks to resolve, if it doesnt resolve I will post in the breeder review this persons info and PROCEED WITH CAUTION!
I have been dealing with the wrong people.
