This has all been really helpful you guys. Thanks for the research. I wish there was a breakdown for small dogs, but maybe the protein requirements are similar for all species of nonworking adult dogs.

Just to toss another monkey wrench into the equation, I read something else that said it's a good idea to rotate your brand of food occasionally. The logic being, no food is perfect, and altering foods will help ensure your dog isn't deprived of an essential nutrient.
