There is so much to prep, examples to make, lessons to plan, assessments to complete, plus all the other paperwork that is involved in this job... I hate when people say, "Oh you have such an easy job, you work from 9-3 and you have the summers off." I'm usually at work by 7 and I leave around 5 plus I bring a ton of stuff home. /rant
I'm a speech-language pathologist for a public school district in my area. People say the same kinds of things to me about the hours I work (or the hours that they THINK I work). Most people don't realize all of the the additional time outside of the school day that most teachers spend planning. You can't just go into a classroom and "wing it." I do most of my planning and paperwork (evaluation reports, IEPs, daily progress notes, medicaid billing, etc) at home because I see kids all day. It has to get done sometime, right? I start next Thursday, too but I'm not looking forward to leaving my fur babies just yet
