they are really hard to potty train! Just keep at it! I used the potty pads, then put them by the door, then outside. If she got mad at me, she would poop or pee on the floor---especially if someone came to visit me. Finally at 9 months she was fully trained to go outside! Joy! Joy! She is now 10 months old and haven't had a mishap at all.
I would recommend a crate at night. A nice soft fluffy pillow that she can sink into and be warm. I also made her a double fleece shirt to wear at night. It gets really cold here and I want her to be warm. Also, if you need to go on vacation and take them with you, the crate is really good if you need to go into a restuarant or somewhere. I also cover it at night. She was crying and whimpering, and once I covered it that stopped. Now she readily goes into the crate and settles right down.
