RKeenan, one more thing that I meant to say. If the not wanting to be picked up is a fairly recent problem, I think the logical first step is to have a vet check him. There may be a physical problem that causes him pain when you pick him up.

Also, be 100% sure that picking him up is never A Bad Thing for pup. In other words, don't pick him up to scold him, don't pick him up to remove him from things that he wants, etc.
