Don't worry about how you do on the weekend just have fun. That's what agility is all about. At my agility classes the people that didn't go on were the ones that weren't loving on their dogs for all the work the dogs were doing.
As for attention issues for Simon, if you have something that you KNOW he loves with you I'm pretty sure he'll be focussed on you. I've seen all those pics of him with his soccer balls maybe one of those would work and certainly a few of your tastiest treats will do the trick too. Make sure he knows you've got them with you - give him one and show him that you've popped the rest in your pocket.
It might be a good idea to make sure Haillie is out of eye and ear shot of you and Simon (just while you're doing the agility bit). When I did my second round on the weekend we had Dixie out of the car and I think that was part of why Dougal totally lost the plot on the second round. Dixie was apparently frantic when she heard my voice calling out to Dougal. As she knows all the same commands as Dougal she was probably thinking "Mum, I want to go over hurdle and through the tunnel but Dad's holding on to me so I can't!!" |
