I have hawks that fly over my house all the time. We live in So. Ca by two large parks. I had 4 flying over my house this morning. They could easily pick up Lucy. Lucy can only go outside with a leash, unless at least 2 people and my big dog (70 pound Lab) go with her. She is never outside alone, and never off the leash outside at night. We also have large owls and coyotes roaming around starting at twilight. Each time Lucy would play with her maltese friend we had hawks in about 20 min. I think the white attracts them more. My neighbor's mom's maltesse was picked up by an owl while she was only 6 feet from her dog.
