The class is going to be terrific! It is rumored that the instructor will be the official "Cesar Milan" rep in our area. Her credentials are impeccable! And her methods are --set up the dog for success and REWARD REWARD REWARD!
Unwanted behavior is dealt with by "punishment" -- which is simply something unpleasant to the dog to discourage unwanted behavior. The "punishment" stops the EXACT INSTANT that the dog quits doing the unwanted behavior and is no more than is absolutely necessary......we haven't learned much about that 'cause we have been way too busy learning POSITIVE and proper timing for treats.
We were told to come to class with a whole bunch of "interesting" treats in small pea size pieces -- I took hotdogs, cooked, drained and rinsed lean ground beef, and some imported swiss cheese. We worked on sit, down walk on loose lead and "give way".
I am going to start on the "homework" in a few. Will keep all of you posted on our progress.
btw... Chizzie was the smallest dog there -- and also the cutest
