Well here's one for you! Bentley gets them every now and then because the little weinee likes to back his bum up against a tree and stand on his two front paws when he goes poo. And I can always tell if he's had a problem because he runs in the house acting all weird and then starts doing the "puppy shuffle".
Why he insists on trying to defy gravity when he has to take a poop is beyond me. But yeah, keeping his bum shaven close will help a lot. I learned that one the hard way
