Ok, this is going to sound really strange but.....My Grandparents used to do things "by the light of the moon". Ever heard of it? It's a stage that the moon goes into. My grandpa trimmed a horses tail that was short and stubby "in the light of the moon" and he said that the tail grew until it touched the ground.
I know that my husband (he's a farmer) says that sometimes the weeds are easier to kill than at other times. (during "the dark of the moon")

I know that "back in the olden days" that people did things according to the moon. My grandparents were good Christian people and they did many things "by the moon". My grandma would tell me when to potty train my kids or when to wean them off of the bottle. It always seemed a little easier if I did it when she told me to.
I guess what I'm getting to is that if you want your puppies coat to grow longer try trimming it lightly by the light of the moon. (You're on your own, however, on finding out just exactly when that is!!!) Good luck!!
