To cull means to select. That's how i got my beautiful Silk. A large breeder/show-er in my area posted several adult females in the paper. When my husband called about them, she said she always "culls" her breeders at the age of five. In other words, she retires them from her program and works with her younger ones. many, many breeders do this. they might use different terms but i bet most of them say 'cull". That's what my husband does when he retires his breeders. (Beagles) he doesn't re-home them tho . They live the rest of their lives out chasing rabbits. i bought Silk for a bargin price knowing I will only be able to get two litters from her, then I will retire her.
