Hi Shell, welcome to yorkie talk, you will love it here, people are helpful, friendly and there's lots of cute yorkies..hehehe
As per the growth of yorkies, what i came to learn is that small breeds usually do most (and sometimes all) of it's growth in the first 6 months of life. But it's budy is developing untill they are 1 year old, so im some cases, like in my case, my yorkie grew until almost 1 year old. When I got him he was 4 months and 21 days and weighted about 5lbs, today he is a big boy about 7 lbs.
Now, another very important thing is to make sure your yorkie has the right weight for it;s age and size. You have to check her body for signs, in any dog with a healthy weight you should:
*Be able to feel the backbone and ribs of your dog but not actually see it (if you feel a noticeable fat covering his/her structure is a sign of some extra 'pounds")
*You should be able to see a waist line between the ribs and hips when you look at the dog from above.
*The belly should be tuck up (close to rear paws) when you view sideways. |
