The anesthetic is called Isoflourin. It is a gas that works the best on small breeds. However, I have heard that they have come out with a new gas that is even better on small breeds, but I am not sure what it is. As far as labs before the surgery, they will do that the day of the surgery. It is mainly to check for liver and kidney function. Anesthesia can wreak havoc on a dog with any kind of liver or kidney disease. That is what the lab work checks for. I am sure your little one will be fine!
