Because she's probably sleeping in the crate. Or doesn't want to mess up her crate. When she's out she just goes when she needs to - and every 30 mins sounds right to me. OK think of this - if you're on a long trip in the car are you going to stop for a bathroom break as often as you would if say, you were at home and the bathroom was right there? You'd have no reason to hold it. Also, you could probably sit quietly with a full bladder easier than if you were say, jogging. Understand?

She isn't giving you attitude. She probably either doesnt understand or can't hold it. When you catch her (and you are watching her at all times, right?) say NO! or whatever to kind of interrupt her and then scoop her up and take her right outside. For this stage, it helps to keep a short leash attached in the house - unless you have a fence or whatever. Then give her a yummy treat (kept in your pocket at all times!) once she is done outside.

Here's a tip - try walking her. Loki can't hold it more than a block or two when we walk, even if he goes in the yard before the walk. She can't poop more than 3 or 4 times a day, so then you KNOW she's empty :-)
