Tears for Lori, the greyhound... Beginning of the end.....
I hate to be a "downer"..but I think my aging greyhound may be starting to fade.
She is 13 1/2 year old retired racer and just the greatest dog... ....she has been failing now for over a year. But this AM I noticed she was a bit wobbly and staggered a bit.
She made it down the stairs and outside...then made it back up the stairs and seemed to eat nearly her whole breakfast....but she just seems different today.....
I have pain meds and fluid pills and some other stuff. I intend to keep her comfy and happy as long as she seems like she is ok....just waiting for her to tell us "the right time".
Does anyone know of a good "greyhound-chat-forum"??? I thought I would be ready for this but just typing these words have made me cry for her.
When she does pass-on ...the vet wants to do an 'autopsy' to see what the huge mass is in her belly....we never have been able to figure it out.
(we opted not to go to all the specialists because of her age and other health issues....she would NEVER survive any surgery).
Thanks for listening!!!!! |
