My groomer puts a drop of mineral oil in each eye right before she bathes. It helps protect the eye from shampoos. Baby shampoo is good but either way, you have to get all of the shampoo out to prevent skin irritations. Try using diluted shampoo (1/4 shampoo to 3/4 water) when washing the head area. When you go to rinse, hold your hand around his nose (making an "O") and rinse away. He won't like it but it'll be better than having sores a couple of days later.
