When I went to get Phoebi a sibling I asked my Vet first since I also had no clue which sex to get.
She said that the worst dogs fights she has ever seen was between two female dogs. Not to say it couldn't happen with a female/male or male/male but in her professional opinion never intentionally put two females together.
Since Phoebi is a true terrier in personality I now know she never would have gotten along with another female. Thank goodness we chose a male, different breed too. (maltese)
This was the first male I've ever owned and it most definitely will not be the last! Couldn't be happier with him.
