Her tail can still be docked - one of my dogs and a cat both had to have their tails amputated because of injuries - both were more than 5 years old, and neither had any problems nor did they seem to experience much pain at all. The vet said they wouldn't - and I don't think they did.

But - there really is no good reason to dock your puppy's tail - and since it is becoming increasingly popular not to do so - I would consider not doing it.
