We used the bell idea with my last dog, Kimba, he was a Samoyed and it worked really well... Maximus is not so good with the bells he just plays with them...
I find he will make a special "potty noise" when he needs to pee... kinda like a whine... he also sniffs in circles. I take him out right away after that!
