Can you feel his ribs without pressing hard? If you can then he isn't fat. I can't imagine how he could be fat at 2.4 lbs.

If he starts scavenging for food and eating random things like dust bunnies and dead bugs...then you know that he is hungry. He is still in a growing stage and I would be hesitant to limit his nutrient intake.
