here is another reason to spay.
This actually happened to our Phoebe. We had no intentions of ever breeding her. She was small not as small as some, but still small 3lbs 9ozs on a very full tummy. We had been told that do to some earlier health problems that she had had, we should not spay her because she may not make it. However not spaying her also ended her life.
BTW I have also been told there is a much safer anethesia now & also request blood work prior to the surgery and make sure they have the results back before they do the surgery incase there maybe a problem. Oh, yea and wait until they are at least 2lbs.
