Yes, there are wonderful vets out there who truly care about your baby. I'm one of the lucky ones as well - I graduated high school with our vet and have known him a long time. He truly cares about all the furbabies he takes care of. After Gage was "altered" back in February, on the day we brought him home, he called us at home that night to check on him, making sure he was eating and drinking okay. He then called me the next day to make sure everything went okay during his first night home.
