You are very correct...staining will reveal if it is a viral infection vs a bacterial infection...both are treated differently and cause by different things. Tobrex only treats bacterial infections...corneal lacerations are caused by viral infections and trama...but rarely by bacterial infections. The drops you were given would do nothing to solve the problem, but would prevent it from becoming infected by bacteria...but I guess you already knew that and it doesn't help you much, huh?
