My neutered male yorkie mounted my female chihuahua who was in heat and I was completely floored at the time. I heard him crying and when I went to check on him they were tied. I had no idea that neutered males could still be aroused and perform. I think my vet should've informed me since he knew we had an intact female in the home. She was a rescue dog and has since been spayed. When I spoke to my vet about the behavior he said yes it's not uncommon for this to happen but no pregnancy will occur obviously. I still think I should've been warned. He also never marked prior to that but he has since she went into heat that one time. I just recently found out on this board that marking can occur in neutered males who are around females in heat.
