I have one with an undocked tail and I love her dearly, but it does create an optical illusion making her appear longer in body. To me, a docked tail looks like a Yorkie should look, but I wish they were born with short tails because I really hate to dock. Like everyone else has said the majority of people in the U.S. expect and want a docked tail. Some will even have it amputated at an older age and it is much worse then.

I have 11 day old puppies so we just went through this. Mom and I were in the car with the radio on outside of the vet's office. It took him 9 minutes to dock and do the dew claws for all of them. The mother never worried over the tails, no bleeding, no pain that I could see.
