We live in the country too, about 7 miles north of town. We have the red-tail hawks to watch out for and the coyotes. And thanks to jerk heads who dump their dogs in the country, we now have coydogs. We are just careful though, the beauty of the wildlife far out weighs the dangers. We see deer, fox, lots of birds, and raccoons. Even the coyotes are pretty at certain times of the year. I wouldn't shoot them. I would just learn how to protect me and mine. They don't know any better than to try to survive and isn't that what we all try to do....every day?
