The "grass thing" --- is just an old wives' tale.

Dogs and cats don't eat grass because they are sick - and they don't get sick from eating it. Actually, most cats and dogs just like it - especially the tender, sweet, new grass that grows around trees, etc.

Both dogs and cat will occasionally hack around and then spit up after eating grass - but this is simply because after eating it, they are often left with some grass in their throat - and, of course, this drives them crazy (just like it would you and me) --- so they go around trying to get rid of it and often will finally be able to finally swallow it or spit it up.

Usually when I see my dogs or cats doing this - I get them to drink some water or feed them something and this helps the grass go the rest of the way down - and the problem is solved.
