I think you'll find as many vacation opinions on what to do with your pup as you will find pups on this site!!!

Traveling by plane, you have to make arrangements ahead of time. Not all airlines allow pets on board (Southwest is one that does not) and only a certain number are allowed. They have to be in a carrier that stays under your seat. They are not allowed out at all.

Personally, I would think of your itineraries and the temps where you will be going. If you are going to be out a lot and leaving your baby in the hotel, you need to have a playpen, x-pen or something else to contain them in, leave the Do Not Disturb sign on your door (make sure you tell them when checking in that you have a dog that will be in your room, possibly without you). You want them contained just in case Housekeeping comes in, so they don't run out. If he is a barker, you want to take this into consideration, too.

If you plan to do things that will exclude him and he will be alone all day in a strange place, you need to ask yourself if he will be happier with someone watching him?

Tough decision, but hopefully one that you will make and feel comfortable with. Good luck.
