Hi, Cooper has a cottony coat and matts too, especially wearing tanks and his harness vests. I use Cowboy Magic and I use a comb to get down to the skin. I only have to do it once a week (usually do it twice to three times though), and the matts don't come back for at least a week after the cowboy magic. I have tried the brushes, but they just didn't get down to where he matts. I use a regular black comb with the fine toothed end and the larger spaced teeth on the other end. This is the best combo I have found so far. I have also used Pantene detangle and the ice on ice (they worked okay), but the Cowboy Magic and the comb is what works best for us.
