If i go to other people's houses, i respect their wishes, unless they ask me to bring the girls. A lot of our friends are crazy over them.
Most of the time i leave the girls at home, when we go visiting people outside of our family.
My family all adore the girls, and they all spoil them rotten, they are allowed to do as they please in my brothers house, who is not even really a small dog person, but he knows we treat them as if they were our kids, and he treats them accordingly.
Ofcourse i keep them under control while we there, but he tells me to "leave the kids" they are not doing anything.

IMO, your family was just down right rude, your little girl was in HER own house, so who are they to scream at her? I would have flipped!! Nobody has the right to do that to her, she is YOUR baby and if they can not accept that, i would not allow her any more contact with them.
A 2 year old picking her up by her neck? That would have been the last straw for me! Where were her parents to watch her?
