Default hypocalcemia-low calcium

Hi all-I actually do mean hypocalcemia. My little girl had a first litter on 6/3 and two weeks later went into hypocalcemic shock. Vet put her on calcium supplements and said to continue to let her nurse pups (3). Pups are now fully weaned and have been for 3 weeks. Mom has been on calcium supplements whole time but went into hypocalcemic shock again last Wednesday. She nearly died. Vet said it is quite unusual as pups are weaned. She did not start doing better until Sat. afternoon. Still on calcium. Vet is hoping to wean mom off of calcium in one month but I am scared. I won't breed her again-don't want to lose her. She did so well for her first pregnancy and delivery, and such a good mama. Mom is 5 pounds and had 3 pups. Any other experiences out there?
