Personally I believe that having a maid is just allowing your famaily to become even more dependent on women cleaning up after them.
I'd crack the whip, and we'd all spend 20 minutes cleaning every evening. It would teach the kids to clean up after themselves and make them more responsible adults.
An age appropriate, cleaning schedule with a reweard system would help. Then everyone knows what is exopected of him and the consequences, if his chores are not done.
