It's very easy to allow our Yorkie's nails to grow longer than they should be so maybe that is why they look too short to you. I think your vet did you a favor by clipping them while she was under, now all you have to do is maintain them on a regular basis. Just keep an eye on them for a couple of days, if you notice any fresh bleeding put some quick stop on it or cornstarch to stop the bleeding.

It's not uncommon for the vet to keep them slightly longer than originally planned, maybe they got a late start because of an unplanned emergency or something.
