 Bells!
OK- I've been trying these bells! I can't get ANY of my dogs to ring them! The only ones ringing the bells are the kids and I in an attempt to teach the dogs to ring the bells to go out! I've smeared peanut butter over them, cheese - you name it - I've tried it! My two big dogs bark and knock to go out. They will even come to me and ask to go out but the little ones just sit at the back door and look out - which is fine if someone is in the family room or kitchen. We haven't had a problem yet but when the kids go back to school there is a chance that someone won't see them and I don't want to frustrate the girls since they have learned to go potty outside so beautifully.
Besides ringing them every time you walk in/out the door - which my dogs understand means "lets go out" because they come running... but they are not interested in ringing the bells for themselves. I've changed bells a few times because at first I thought they might be scaring little Roxy but that's not it - she doesn't want to ring a bell and she doesn't bark ever (except at other dogs that scare her!) Ruby only barks when she wants what I am eating!
Help! I know they can do this - what am I doing wrong? Is it just that they are still so young?
