Joy, you're absolutely right, I think we lucked up with Miss Prissy Paws! We were also furtunate that we could be with her 24/7 ... that makes a lot of difference too! In the beginning we simply watched her at those times that all the books instructed you to take them outside, after naps, meals and play. After these activities we simply placed her on the pad instead of outside and said "tee tee here"! She would get a little treat and lots and lots of praise and didn't take her long to get the hang of it ... or was it the treat?? On those occasions that she went somewhere other than the pad .... we would sit her on the pad and say "tee tee here" and gave her nothing! We use only the one command for both pee and poop ... so she knows if it's coming from "back there" it goes on the wee wee pad!! She had Paul, her trainer, in Louisiana, who stressed using "one word" commands ... he simply took our list of words that we were already using and added to it! He was wonderful ... she went from "belly-crawling every time we put her harness & leash on, to trotting alongside Paul like she was in the show ring in ONE session!! We really miss him ... he was making great progress with her at our home and was going to slowly begin to socialize her at his "Boot Camp" when we were suddenly transferred! We miss him!
Nebraska!! I understand it gets quite cold there even if not -40 degrees!! Noone here in Colorado seems to even notice when there is SNOW on the high mesa!! My husband just laughs at me when I say "but it's going to be DOWN HERE"!!! It's really neat to see the "snow line" move lower and lower down the mesa!
Tell Louis that Toto thinks he is very handsome and that his "Count Louis" costume is "the bomb"!!
