Everyone ALWAYS assumes they are mother/puppy and when we explain that they are littermates - they have trouble understanding that! Next question is usually if one is a boy and one a girl..... that's usually followed by the person assuming that Roxy must be a runt and have something wrong with her. We are always happy to assure everyone that Ruby is just big-boned and both are as healthy as can be!
Funnily enough once we get talking most people assume that we have deliberately bred dogs for this as a designer mix. I've been chased down on my way to puppygarten with the girls numerous times by people wanting a puppy from my next litter! I have been thrilled to hold the girls up as ambasadors for promoting rescue as a great alternative to purchasing a puppy from the (still way to numerous) Puppy Barns that we have scattered all over Jersey. |
