First I would tell the breeder you would also like to talk to the vet about this puppy. I know you have to get their permission to even talk to the vet about a dog from this breeder as the vet is not going to talk about the client without the clients permission.
But certainly see if she or he agrees for you to talk to their vet. And if they say no then walk away as it would seem they would have something to hide.
