Bettyeanne Thanks for the welcome. Okay, whoops! Not -40... high in the 40's and sometimes a low of 6 degrees in our cozy Nebraska home-away-from our sunny home of Southern California. (I'm at school and Louis is a native Husker.)

The problem I have had in the past with pee pads is that Louis does a very hyper "poopie dance" and he needs to totter around in WIDE circles before settling on a spot. Squatting calmly on one little square is going to be very hard for him since he's used to having a wide patch of grass to go poo on. I have used reward and praise very successfully with OUTSIDE and now hopefully we won't start all over with the messes inside now that we're forced to switch.

We actually started Toto from day one with weewee pads and it has worked out great!! We use the "praise & reward" system and it has worked beautifully. My entire life I always thought you scolded but found when doing my research on this subject that if you scold they just think you don't like "seeing" them do it so they go someplace else when you're not looking [this explains so much about pets I have had in the past]!! We simply placed her on the pad [after naps, eating, etc.] and each time she went we would tell her what a "Good Girl" she was and give her a small piece of Honeycomb Cereal [recommended by our vet as a treat]. She quickly got the hang of it and now if noone sees her go on her pad ... she seeks us out ... sits down and gives a little yip and shows us she was a "Good Girl" and gets her treat!! We order the Simple Solutions pads online from PetSmart [$15.99 for 56] and it is wonderful!
After heading over to the pee pee pad thread for pointers, I've noticed that Toto was more than excited to go on the pads... wow! How exactly did you reward and praise her to get her to be so precise?? Maybe you also lucked out to have such a dainty little thing to start with! LOL

More pics because I couldn't resist: Check out Count Louis this Halloween.
