It's hard to adopt from a regular shelter because personally, I am not a fan of big dogs, and shelters TYPICALLY have slim to none small dogs.
I have tried going through a private rescue and their procedures are outrageous. I filled out tons of paperwork, got asked 50,000 questions, and then got denied simply because I don't have a fenced in backyard.
