Yes, this is common in toy breeds. My sister has two yorkies (5 years old) and her female yorkie has a collapse trachea. Unfortunately, she is not a good candidate for surgery. She takes prednisone daily. She does well as long as she does not get excited. IF she gets too excited, she starts honking (like having an asthma attack).
