If you are serious about improving...you might want to rethink keeping the male you have picked for stud if you want to stay within the standard. He will be at least 7 ...I would look for a nice 5 pounder to use as an all-around stud..stud produce themselves, smaller then themselves and larger then themselves. I have bred for 35 yrs and picking a stud at 8 weeks rarely works..get the best pedigree possible with a terrific pup to match it..best of luck
