I always worry about my furbabies whenever I give them a muscle/tendon stick and so what I do is attach a tiny c-clamp at one end of the stick. They are so secure even you cannot take it out unless you unwind it so I highly suggest you get one . . .can be found at the hardware (about less than $3). If you want a picture I will take one for you so you have an idea of what I am talking about. You will get hooked to using it and be worry free all the time.
