You will get a lot of opinions on this question. My preference is breed 2x skip, breed 2x spay. This is dependant on EVERY different female, and is just my general rule of thumb. One girl of mine wasn't bred til she was 2.5 years old. She has now had two litters, and will be spayed. With each litter, I've had a stilborn pup out of the sack presented breech, which made for a difficult delivery. She is an excellent mom and a beautiful producer, but we aren't going to put her through that again. Another girl I have will most likely also only be bred 2x then spayed. My point is to improve on her. Once I get that improvement, there is no need to breed her again, as her pedigree doesn't offer anything special...she is always an outcross, and is only used because of specific traits in her I want to incorporate as a whole. SO...the answer IMHO is guage each female differently, however after 2 breedings, you need to skip a heat at least.
