How much does the Dad weigh? She's a good age, but 4 pounds is a little small to breed, preferably they should be 5 pounds at least to avoid C-sections, but, of course, I have seen small ones deliver naturally and larger ones needing C-sections.

Your male is definitely capable of producing pups at almost a year. Did you ever witness a tie (dogs being stuck together for 5 to 15 minutes)? Sometimes at that age they just can't get it right though without help so if you didn't see anything she might not be, but if they were together the whole time he might have been able to figure it out or get lucky. I know my stud at that age didn't even know the right end, but at about 14 months he knew what to do.
