I would think that swatting him when he is doing what is in his nature, you are letting him know he is not supposed to be doing that and when you are ready to breed him, he might not for fear he will get swatted. How old is Mason and Mia? I would either quit free feeding them or feed Mia first, and then feed Mason. You could also feed in separate rooms.

I do the same thing, except instead of in a separate room, Tiger is out of the expen while Annika is in it. I also hand feed Annika as she eats way too fast and gets bloated and throws up. Since I have been hand feeding her, she has been fine . . man, we sure spoil our furbabies
