We adopted a Boxer in Feb. '04. We were told to change her name b/c it would be like she was starting a fresh new life. I named her Gia. Her previous name was Lara...it did not fit. And she responded to Gia within a day or two. She was 14months old at the time. Sometimes it is best for them to be renamed. Especially if they came from a bad experience. They can leave that life behind.
